If I can show the picture it will be of a gun cabinet that Dad made for Hank. It is in his cabin in Montana. I have often wondered how it would be to have the talent to make such a thing. Dad got his own lumber from trees he cut down in the forest and milled into the fine products that he made. I miss his gentle laugh and wise council. Hope that you can see the gun closet in the photo. Dave

When I recently visited with my brother Hank and his wife Shirley I saw in his cabin in the Dearborn Area of Montana something that our Dad built for him years ago. It was a custom gun cabinet. But unlike other gun cabinets it was crafted out of mountain juniper that Dad had milled and cut himself. It reminded me that Dad was so self sufficient. He not only went to the mountains and got the trees but followed thru and cut the lumber on his own hand made sawmill and processed the material to build the cabinet. Put in the glass door and took the time to put his own style of craftsmanship into it. I hope you can see clearly the photo That I want to attach. We all can learn from the life of Fred Weyerman.

Fred Weyerman
As we finished the meeting in Weston with the six members of the Fred Weyerman family that are still here I had to think hard about what it means to be a Weyerman. What do I remember about dad and the many things that he taught me? He was honest to the core, kind , compassionate and loving to all who called at the home. But more than all that he taught us all how to work with our hands and simple tools and make things that others could appreciate. I know that many of you have received a chest of some kind. Either the simple small jewelry boxes or ins some cases you have a large cedar chest siting in you home that he made. We all have much to learn because he was our father. I propose that we remember him by the things we share with each other and the things we teach our children.
I invite all who read this blog to participate by telling all of us wht it means to you to be a part of the Weyerman heritage and how you conduct your life because you knew or are related to Fred Weyerman our grandfather and father.
